Road Trip!

We took our first big family road trip to see family and friends in the Tri-State area.  On the whole, we were very proud of our first really big venture.  Our girls slept in the car through the night as we drove, they had a great time, charmed everyone (except when they got cranky because they were too involved in everything to nap!), and ate great.

So, what did we do?  We visited one of my oldest friends and her new daughter, Josephine.  We had breakfast and lunch and went to the Norwalk Aquarium, where I used to work.  They were SO EXCITED!  They loved watching the seals and the fish.  In between tanks they barely slowed down to really take it in.  They ran from place to place yelling and squealing.  We finally took them up to the kiddy play area for them to run their energy out.

Seals!  I think it was Tilly.

Fishies!  This is one of Catherine's new words.  Well, "ishies".

These clownfish are Dave's favorite.  Maybe one day we'll get a saltwater tank.

We also got to see more twins and even managed a picture of all of them together, though it was tricky. They had a wonderful time at Aunt Robin's house.  Uncle Charlie's job was to hold all the books and Aunt Robin got to witness what is is like when twins chase each other, and you, around the house stomping like little elephants.  The best part for me, other than seeing everyone of course, was going to Carvel!  I miss it so much and finally got to experience it again, this time sharing a childhood love with my girls.  Samantha LOVED it!

Then, home for the 4th of July and out the next day to the beach to see grandparents, Godparents, aunts and uncles.  Catherine did so much better at the beach this time.  She eventually was running towards the water and asking to be carried out into the waves.  I was so proud of her.  Samantha, again, was right at home.  They were not afraid of all the people the met, many of whom they haven't seen in several months.  The highlight of the visit for the girls, was Grandpa's fish tank (ishies!) and the wind chimes (see below).

Here Mommy, I found this for you.

Love this face!

Kisses from Penny.  Such a good, gentle dog.

Way up high with Dan.

Kristian isn't afraid of twins.
Whew!  Beach, pool, golf, family party, extra big dogs, and a shopping trip.  I think we were crazy, but at least we know we can do it now.  Good thing, because the summer isn't over yet!
